Welcome to the McCafferty Flute Studio!

Since 2019, I’ve had the joy of teaching private students, leading sectionals, and guiding group lessons for musicians of all ages and experience levels, including adult amateurs. I work with everyone from first-time flutists to advanced players and college students, tailoring each lesson to inspire growth and confidence. Sharing music through teaching is one of my greatest passions, and I look forward to supporting you wherever you are in your musical journey.

Private Lessons

I offer 30 and 60 minute flute lessons, taught in person at Flutistry as well as virtually, making lessons accessible no matter where you’re located. Instruction is fully customized to support your personal goals and musical development.

My Teaching
Philosophy

At the heart of my music-making and teaching is a commitment to fostering creativity, confidence, and a sense of purpose. I tailor my approach to each student’s interests and goals, whether they are preparing for auditions and a professional path or simply seeking joy, community, and personal expression through music. Strong fundamentals are taught with intention and clarity, emphasizing not just how to improve, but why those skills matter and how they shape meaningful musical experiences. I approach every student as a whole person, aiming to support their emotional, intellectual, and artistic growth with respect and care, knowing that feeling heard and valued is essential to motivation, self-worth, and lasting engagement in learning.

In my lessons,
I focus on the following:

Sound

Sound is the first impression you make as a flutist, we focus on developing a beautiful, resonant, and expressive tone through careful exercises and guided practice.

Technique

Lessons include focused technical exercises  such as scales, arpeggios, and other essential foundational tools to confidently play anything.

Repertoire

Explore music through thoughtfully chosen etudes and repertoire that correspond to your current level and highlight your strengths as a player.

Music Theory

Build a practical understanding of music theory, connecting concepts like harmony, rhythm, and form directly to the music you’re learning and performing.

Practice Strategies

Develop effective practice strategies that help you practice smarter, stay motivated, and make meaningful progress between lessons.
